Shaun Gayle is a former NFL player who spent 12 years in the league, 11 for the Chicago Bears and one for the then-San Diego Chargers.
He was drafted by the Bears in 1984 and won a Super Bowl with the team the following year.
The defensive back retired from football in 1995 and transitioned to sports analysis and broadcasting.
What happened to Shaun Gayle’s girlfriend, Rhoni Reuter?
Shaun Gayle and Rhoni Reuter began dating in 1989. The two were together for 18 years but never married or moved in together.
On October 4, 2007, when she was seven months pregnant with Gayle’s child, Rhoni, 42, was found dead in her Illinois apartment.
Police said she had been shot multiple times at point-blank range, with two shots fired directly at her abdomen.
It was revealed that Gayle had been romantically involved with several other women throughout their relationship.
Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Detective Scott Frost said Gayle had been involved with “18 women over a three-year period.”
The investigators then focused on Marni Yang, whom Gayle had been casually seeing for about six years.
Authorities believed Yang killed Rhoni in a fit of rage and jealousy and, in 2011, Yang was convicted of first-degree murder.
She was also found guilty of intentional homicide of an unborn child and was given a double life sentence.
